PGC Kickoff Potluck

This past Friday over 20 PGC members gathered together to kickoff the fall semester with a potluck-style dinner. Members brought dishes ranging from homemade  galettes and raita to a sampling of Metropolitan's desserts and Philly Sugar's macaroons. The potluck was a great way for new members and old ones to mingle and meet one another. The evening culminated in a vote on the best homemade dish with the prize being the cook's picture on our website (see above), which was a tie between Dominique's mac and cheese with sausage and Eric's improvised rice with sausage (can you spot a theme?).

PGC Dinner at Sweetgreen

Penn Gastronomy Club and Sweetgreen paired up last week to host an event that is surely every college students dream: free, delicious, nutritious food.  Sweetgreen offered to feed 30 of our hungry members, free of charge.  (PS this event was so popular that it filled up within 5 minutes of the first email being sent, and built up a 20 person waiting list!) Monday night, PGC members shuffled in, creating a huge line of eager salad eaters; at one point it extended out of the door and down the ramp!

{worth the wait}

Sweetgreen offers students  a healthier option than some other restaurants in the neighborhood.  It can be hard to feel like you have gotten a nutritious dinner as a college student, and I know I my mother would cringe if she knew how often I forget to "eat my greens."  This, combined with the number of times my Spin class teacher has mentioned that it is almost bikini season, gives me all the more reason to eat healthy.  But besides providing me with a guilt free meal, Sweetgreen truely fulfills my foodie needs- they offer organic, localy grown, and delicious veggies and greens, with more add-in options that I can wrap my head around.

{Another PGC-er's Salad}

Despite the line, everyone had a great time getting our grub on- it still always surprises me just how filling a salad can be!  Hopefully PGC and Sweetgreen can collaborate again in the future to give you more events like this!

{Happy Customers!}
